Tips for breast cancer awareness:
Get regular screenings
Schedule annual mammograms and other screenings as recommended by your doctor. Mammograms can detect cancer early, when treatment is most effective.
Maintain a healthy weight
Obesity is a risk factor for breast cancer, especially after menopause.
Eat a healthy diet
Eat a balanced diet with lots of fruits and vegetables, and limit red and processed meats, sugary drinks, and fatty foods.
Stay active
Research suggests that physical activity can reduce the risk of breast cancer.
Limit alcohol
Alcohol use is associated with an increased risk of breast cancer.
Manage stress
Stress can negatively impact your overall health, but there are ways to reduce it, such as deep breathing, relaxation and exercise.
Breastfeed
Breastfeeding for at least one year may slightly reduce the risk of breast cancer.
Self-exams
Women under 40 can perform monthly self-breast exams, ideally right after their period.
